Royal Enfield Himalayan Review

The Himalayas formed almost 70 million years ago. They’re home to the tallest mountain peaks and some of the roughest terrain on planet Earth. When Royal Enfield set out to build an adventurous motorcycle that could adapt to any terrain, they aptly named it the Himalayan: an homage to this epic mountain range.

At Quaker City Motor Sport, we know the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 was made with a mountaineer’s spirit. So, what will it bring to your rides in and around Philadelphia, PA; Cherry Hill, NJ; and Wilmington, DE?

The Story of the Royal Enfield Himalayan

The Himalayas cover nearly 1,500 miles with the tallest peak climbing to almost 30,000 feet. They’re made up of barren land, rocky gorges, and snow-covered mountains, and while most adventure motorcycles seek to dominate a landscape like this, the purpose of the Royal Enfield Himalayan is to become one with it.

Royal Enfield engineers put the Himalayan through a wide variety of trials to test its adaptability. One of the most grueling was the climb to Khardung La. It’s the highest motorable road in the world. The top sits at 17,582 feet. The motorcycle faced broken rocks, sand, snow, and everything in between, passing the test with flying colors.

The Himalayan is Royal Enfield’s first purpose-built motorbike. That means, it’s not just for climbing the highest mountain peaks. It’s comfortable and engaging enough to tackle your daily ride. Whether you’re commuting to work or heading out on a road trip, it’s ready to face any challenge that gets in its way.

Himalayan All-Terrain Performance

The heart of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 is a single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine. It produces more than 24 horsepower and 23 lb-ft of low-end torque, which is specially designed to help this bike climb over challenging obstacles.

A dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) comes standard on this motorcycle. It gives you the ability to turn off the ABS at the back wheel. This provides a more engaging ride when you hit the trails. Turn it back on when you hit asphalt for increased safety.

The Himalayan is the first Royal Enfield motorbike to have a monoshock suspension. What does that mean for you? It means a more comfortable and in-control ride. The shocks absorb jarring blows from off-road obstacles to smooth out your ride and help keep both wheels firmly planted.

Adventurous Design

What happens when a stream stands between you and adventure? Go through it! The Himalayan 411 has more than 8.5 inches of ground clearance, so you can wade through shallow water and rumble over all sorts of obstacles. Plus, the 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels are equipped with dual-purpose tires that keep a firm grip on any road.

Long rides are no match for this motorbike. It’s designed to reduce rider fatigue. Its 31.4-inch-high seat keeps the foot pegs directly beneath your body and puts the handlebars closer to you to optimize comfort.

Do you have some extra cargo to bring along? On long off-road getaways, it’s a must. That’s why the Royal Enfield Himalayan is made with a built-in luggage mounting frame. It comes with solid, aluminum panniers in the rear and jerry can mounts in the front. You’ll have room for a sleeping bag and your provisions.
